On this page you will find a list of slang words, acronyms and abbreviations used in websites, chat rooms, blogs, Internet forums or text messaging with cell phones.

There are many such words in use, some are more widely understood than others, and new ones are evolving all the time. This list is large but incomplete; however it should contain the more commonly used slang words and abbreviations.

ETLA = extended three letter acronym

EYC = excitable, yet calm

E2EG = ear to ear grin

ED = emotionally disturbed

EDP = emotionally disturbed person

EGC = extrememly gruntled customer

EIF = exercise in futility

EMRU = error message replace user

EMS = e-mail shorthand

EOB = end of business

ERU = error replace user

ES&D = eat s*** & die

ES<HI = eat s*** & live to hate it

ESAD = eat s*** and die

ESAL = eat s*** and live

ESBAM = eat s***, bark at moon

ESP = especially (frequently just esp. )

ESOSL = endless snorts of stupid laughter

ETA = estimated time of arrival

ETD = estimated time of departure

ETE = estimated time en route

ETLA = extended three letter acronym

EM = e-mail

EMA = e-mail address

EOT = end of thread (meaning end of discussion)

EZ OR EZ = easy (one of the really old ones)

EG = exempli gratia (latin: for example)
